What Is Silk--Know More about the Silk Fiber

Audrey Hepburn was deeply obsessed with silk: “ When I put on the silk scarf, I never distinctly felt I was a woman, a beautiful woman.” Why does silk make her so obsessed?

Silk is called “ Fiber Queen” and belongs to protein fiber that contains 18 amino acids necessary for the human body and is extremely the same as the amino acids contained in the human skin. Silk can help skin maintain the metabolism of surface lipid membrane so to keep skin hydrated and smooth, endowed with the good name “ The second skin” of humans and favored by people of all ages for its unique charm.

The natural fiber contained in silk is mainly silk fiber, also called natural silk, which is a continuous filament fiber that is solidified by liquid silk secreted when mature silkworm cocoons. In addition, it’s one of the earliest animal fiber that human uses, including mulberry silk, castor silk, cassava silk, and so on. Lingsilk’s products are made of 100% mulberry silk.

Silkworm is an oligophagous insect that it’s better to raise at home and mulberry leaves are the most suitable natural foodstuff. Mulberry silk is thin and long, white with slight yellow, tender, and smooth touch, and has a faint smell that animal fiber specifically owns. Mulberry silk is a premium textile fiber that is the best of all silk categories and has many characters.

  1. Natural and environmental protection:nopollution and no irritation, excellent effect on closing to skin.
  1. Suppleand comfortable:nice touch, soft and smooth, good skincare effect.
  1. Good functionality:excellent moisture wicking, heat dissipation, and moisture release, having a certain thermostatic action to the human skin.
  1. Beautiful and elegant:the fabric is in good sag and good decorative effect with a natural luster.
  1. Good effect on anti-bacteria and anti-mite:absorbing sweat quickly and dispersing it, effectively preventing mites and molds from breeding.

So how to distinguish silk?

Firstly, observe the luster. The luster of silk fabrics is soft and even, bright but not dazzling. Though rayon fabrics are also in bright luster, they are not soft.

Secondly, listen to the friction. The surface of silk is wear-resistant due to the sericin protection and dry silk fabrics will make a sound called “scroop” or “silk scroop” when they rub against each other, while other chemical fabrics have no sound.

The fabric made of high-quality raw silk is smooth and even, with clear texture, plump and smooth, cool and elastic, good luster, high fastness, uniform color absorption, and no color spots. Silk is divided into 12 grades according to quality control standards, there are 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and 6A is the best, G  is the worst. The raw material Lingsilk uses is Grade 6A silk with high-quality fabric.

Additionally, Lingsilk products have certified OEKO-TEX.
